FLORISSANT — Lawmakers here plan to trade a chunk of park land to a major housing developer in exchange for hiking terrain along the Missouri River. The city says it's a win-win. A 32-acre field in Koch Park is mostly empty, and McBride Homes wants to build 108 new houses there in the first major housing development for Florissant in decades. One of the oldest and most populous cities in the region, Florissant doesn't have many open spaces left. And the new hiking terrain obtained from McBride would add 44 acres of hilly forest and bluffs next to Sunset Park, already the city's largest.
